THE WELFARE PROGRAM CLICK HERE TO VIEW PROJECT PROGRESS Pictured above is Anthony Allen the Chairman of the S.R.O.A. and Călin Potor the Vice mayor of Alba Iulia Signing the agreement for the welfare centre. The proposed welfare centre is next door to the Alba Iulia street kitchen, it is a derelict building which, used to be used as a old peoples home. The building will need a lot of 'hands on' work as well as substantial funding if the project is to be a Success. We are hoping to use a lot of Romanian labour to help us start and complete this substantial project. THE PROPOSAL It is our intention to offer help - in partnership with the Mayors office, to refurbish the building known as the 'Caminul De Batrini' situated in 'Str. Libertatii', in an attempt to restore it - as near as possible, to it's original condition. A partnership has been formulated between the S.R.O.A. and the Mayors office. The Mayors office will supply labour to work with us. The building will become a 'Free for anyone in need' welfare centre supported by the Alba Iulia social department. The aim of the welfare centre project is: That it should become a building that is equipped to be able to accept anyone in extreme need being them adult or child, that are: disabled, homeless and/or poverty stricken.
The 'Welfare Centre' will be able to offer: 1) Washing facilities 2) Laundry facilities and clean clothes. 3) A free medical check up. 4) A free dental check up. 5) Registration and information regarding available help and support. 6) An information, help and support centre for various other problematic areas. An N.G.O,s office. This is to entice other aid groups into Alba that are working along the same lines. 7) The centre will house a volunteers office, that can also be used by other N.G.O,s The main objective of the office is to aid our outreach program and be a direct help line for people in urgent need not only in Alba Iulia, but also in outlying areas, where we are in the process of forming individual outreach centres. The first outreach centre is being set up at Girda dispensary and this year it will help it's first family - The Suciu Family, please see personal case profiles.
